The kids' first concert

A few months ago, Dave and I coordinated our schedules and both logged on (Dave from work) the second the tickets went on sale to try to get six tickets, so the whole family could see the Avett Brothers!

Then, I bought everyone Avett Brothers' shirts, because we wanted to be that kind of dorky fan.

The day finally came!  It was a great time.  We were still way in the back or the balcony, because six tickets are hard to come by, but we didn't care.

Luke and Ally couldn't see, so Ally stood on the back of the seats with Dave holding her, and Luke was on my back.  It was HOT having him on my back, but I loved hearing him sing along in my ear.

Dave took Luke to a pre-season Packer game last week and Anna went to stay with Oma and Opa that same night.  I took Kate and Ally to the store and let them buy a brand new book and some snack foods, and we had a fun night staying in and reading our brand new books.

We all snuggled in bed, and Ally was browsing through her book when she asked, "Mom, do you know when Finley was born?"

"June twenty..." I thought, "seventh."

"Two thousand...?" Ally asked.

"Two thousand...twelve?"

"Oooh!" she said, excited.

"Wait, no 2013," I confirmed.

"Oh, darn!" Ally replied, "Otherwise Finley and my book would be the same age."

Then she looked at Finley and explained, "Finley, your copyright is 2013."

Dave works late

We pulled into the driveway at 5:45 on a weekday and I saw Dave’s car was here.

Me - Oh!  Wow!  Daddy’s home.

Kate - Uh oh.

Me - Why, “Uh oh”?

Kate - Because it’s 5:45. Something must be wrong.

Anna - What time does he usually get home?

Kate - 6:45...

Me - ...or 7:00

Kate - ...or 7:15.

Ally - Maybe he got fired!

Me - (laughing) Ally!!!

Anna - That was my first thought, too!

Me - (laughing harder) Oh, Anna!

Luke - Well, then I guess we’ll find him weeping on the couch.

Their father gets home by 5:45 and the kids expect to find him weeping on the couch because he lost his job.
