GPS

We got back from our "Out West" trip on Tuesday night.  While we were traveling we, thanks to my lack of direction and poor navigational skills, had used the GPS quite a bit.

This afternoon after running errands we turned onto our block when Ally piped up from her carseat, "In approximately 2 seconds, you'll have arrived at your 'destimation.'"

Goodbyes

Yesterday was an emotional day.  The kids had to say goodbye to their teachers, and we all had to say goodbye to Charlie.  I hate goodbyes, and I sometime struggle with properly expressing myself in social interactions in general.

As Emily was leaving from picking Charlie up for the last time, I thought to myself for the umpteenth time in my life, how I wished I was better at letting people know how much they mean to me without being completely awkward.

I was holding the door open as she packed her car up and Luke was besides me.  I had my mind full of my own thoughts, but out of the corner of my mind I noticed Luke saying, repeatedly, variations of,  "I hope you have a good summer." "I hope you have a fun summer." and "I hope you have a good time with Charlie this summer."

Then he said, "I don't blame you for being sad...  I hope you have a good summer."

I looked down at him, still distracted.  He looked me in the eyes, shrugged, and said, "Sometimes you really want to say something, but you just don't know what to say.  You know?"

Yep.  I know, Buddy.  I definitely know.
Even Violet loves Charlie!
